Peripato Telematikos: An Art project combining Walking, Cartography and Software

This website documents walking projects that have been conducted since 2007 when the project commenced. Walking is considered as a creative practice an outcome of which is the following subjective cartographies created utilising a custom-written software/hardware system. The media that appear in each of the subjective cartographies, have been contributed using a mobile phone. Images, sound and video are sent using MMS and text using SMS whilst exploring spaces on foot. The choice of MMS was intentional as it did not rely on mobile data or wifi connectivity and the project commenced before the ubiquity of smart phones and standardised operating systems.

Group walks Townsville
Autoethnographic solitary walks conducted by Greg Giannis Greece
Urban waterways walks - Darebin, Sao Paulo, Istanbul, Havana (12th Bienal)

Please note that the sound and video component stopped working when the Java Media framework used was discontinued.
